The Portrait of Spirit · February–June 2027
A little time each week, just for your drawing.
Join me for live online spirit portrait drawing practice on Zoom. Beginners and experienced spirit portrait artists are welcome. Bring your pencils and enjoy drawing alongside a small group.
Beginner's & Advanced Welcome!
Space to practise, together
There is something lovely about having a regular place to return to your drawing. You do not have to do it all on your own.
Each Saturday we meet for portrait practice. I set a weekly drawing challenge, and every so often I demonstrate it first so you can see how I approach it. Then we work together in a small group. Between sessions, our private Facebook practice group is where we share our work. Now and then I may draw one of you while I work and post it there too.
Complete beginners through to more experienced artists are all welcome. Everyone needs a place to keep improving their skill, and even advanced students will find room in this creative space.
Four Saturday sessions each month, approximately 90 minutes each.
Regular drawing challenges to keep your practice going.
Time to draw alongside others and share the experience.
Access to our practice group between live classes.
Each month starts on its first Saturday. Every class begins at 7pm UK time. Four sessions, one month of practice.

Make time for your portraits

Anne-Marie Bond works in graphite, charcoal, pastels, watercolour, acrylic, oils and digital art. Under The Portrait of Spirit, she brings together her teaching and creative practice.
The Club gives us a regular time to return to portrait drawing, practise together and make space for your own work.
What is Spirit Art?Student's club portraits
Yes. Complete beginners can build their face-drawing foundations, including proportion and likeness. Experienced spirit portrait artists can refine those skills through regular tutor-led practice. The Club focuses on drawing practice, rather than promising mediumship training or particular results. Explore What is Spirit Art?

Train your eye. Refine your hand. Grow your confidence.
We start with music to settle in and arrive together.
A few words are read out to set the mood for the session.
I set a focused challenge. Sometimes I demonstrate it first, live.
You draw in a small group, then share your work in our private Facebook group.
A group that simply gets together to draw is lovely for company, but nobody is guiding you. Small habits can creep in unnoticed: proportions that drift, or faces that all start to look like the same person. With an experienced tutor, every challenge has a purpose. You see the technique demonstrated and get gentle, honest feedback, so each week builds properly on the last.
I have demonstrated Spirit Portraiture to audiences of more than 100 people, with one hand, both hands and even with my eyes closed. That only works when the foundation drawing skills are strong, and that is exactly what we practise here.
Dropping in for a few classes now and then can be fun, but that is all it tends to be. The subtle progress, in your likeness, your shading and your confidence, only really shows itself after six months to a year of steady development. That is the journey the Club is built for.
Build proportion, likeness and confidence from the ground up.
Strengthen the eye-to-hand skills your future spirit work will depend on.
Sharpen accuracy so each communicator looks like their own unique person.
